Evan Yi-Fan Hsiao

蕭一凡字道庸，號逸潛，1973生於台南。視覺藝術學碩士，中國文學博士。其學以晚明書畫文史和當代西方思潮為雙刃，由此自惕。冀集用鑑體，鑄煉文質。

書法類磺溪獎及明宗獎／書法個展五場（如《後疫契彬》於孟焦畫坊）／聯展近九十次（如《法與無法交織的年代》於橫山書法藝術館）／講座約莫六十場（如《書寫的邊緣：從王鐸到帕洛克》於清華大學）／論文及期刊雜誌發表十數篇（如《無中無不中：書家的平淡美學與書法的主體越界》於中研院文哲所）／擬定展覽主題二十餘個（如《文字域》、《解一磅礡》、《書無定所》...）。

Hsiao Yi-Fan, also known as Evan Hsiao, was born in Tainan, Taiwan in 1973. He has a master's degree in visual arts and a PhD in Chinese literature. He studied late Ming dynasty paintings and calligraphy, as well as contemporary Western philosophy, both of which have profoundly influenced his works.He is using his knowledge and experience to create artworks, integrating antiquity and modernity, East and West. The calligraphy, as an ancient Asian art form, gives Hsiao the opportunity of exploration and confrontation with contemporary art language, practiced in West, resulting in work which transcends cultural and temporal boundaries.
